La Palma Airport can be found eight kilometres from Santa Cruz de la Palma. It can sometimes be confused with Palma Airport in Mallorca. The airport is smaller in size and traffic than nearby airports such as Fuerteventura however it still managed to lure over one million, one hundred and fifty thousand passengers through its doors in 2008. Over twenty thousand flights arrived and left La Palma Airport in 2008. Plans are already afoot to build a new terminal.

The majority of traffic at La Palma comes from domestic routes such as Madrid and Tenerife however there are a few flights from the UK provided by Thomson Airways.  Connecting Spanish flights are easy to come by with Binter Canarias flying to Gran Canaria Airport and Tenerife North while Air Europa fly to Barcelona and Iberia and Spanair fly to Madrid.

A taxi into Santa Cruz de la Palma will set you back about twenty euro. There are no train services from the airport.  There are local buses which leave every half an hour charging a one euro fare.
