Almeria Airport terminal is split over three floors with the majority of departures and arrivals taking place on the ground floor. The departures terminal at the air port has twenty one check in desks and a further six are expected to be added when phase two of the expansion work is completed by the middle of 2010. After you have checked in you’ll want to head towards the right end of the terminal to go via the security control checkpoint. Once into the departures lounge you’ll find plenty of shop, cafes and a duty free area.

The arrivals area at Almeria International airport is located at the far left end of the terminal building and consists of four baggage reclaim belts. Almeria is not one of the more well known tourist destinations in comparison to Alicante or Malaga however it a fast growing sunshine location with much to offer.

The cathedral in Almeria is home to a collection of valuable painting and other artistic works. The cathedral contains both Renaissance and Gothic elements. Alhambra palace is well worth a visit as is the Arabian fortress Alcazaba.

There are plenty of local food specialties to sink your teeth into in Almeria. There are plenty of fish dishes available in the city restaurants. Local favourites include Breca a la uva which is pandor fish and grapes and ajo colorao which is a spicy sausage stew.

There is much to discover in your Almeria car hire outside the city. Mojocar is about a fifty kilometre drive away from Almeria. It is a peaceful pretty area which has retained much traditional Spanish charm. Tabernas is closer to Almeria (about twenty miles). Many spaghetti westerns were filmed here so fans of this genre certainly will want to take a look.
